It seems really important to publicly address the fact that the internet, specifically online media outlets and google.com and their efficient rate of exchanges of information from source to audience have left newspapers, magazines, books, and even tv shows irrelevant. When news actually happens, it's on the internet first. Nobody has the patience to watch the news because it makes it appear that the world is ending. Anyone can blog about the current state of events- everyone can be a newscaster. On this blog, I choose to post news links to space exploration, because I'm interested in it.
The web is already a way better place for news, especially since it was created to share. The internet is light years faster than anything in print. A side affect of the internet is the inefficiency of previously established media outlets. Another recent side affect is the production of weblebrities. Everyone is online, and, so it only makes sense that it can serve as a forum for performance, exposure, exhibition, etc. What I'm starting to realize is that overall, the internet has made the average person's voice louder. I mean, I'm never going to delete this shit, so it's going to be here forever. Someone can read this in 100 years. I hope they think I'm cool.
Don't forget the burden of accountability when it comes to the world's injustices- torture, genocide, animal abuse, homophobia, racism, etc. All of this is available to view on the internet; the current internet is a reflection of humanity that makes me worry about what the future is going to be like. How do we remove these deep seeded social ills that have remained engendered into our society?
By the way, the world is going to end in 2012, or didn't you hear? Jk, the world will never end. Still we must prepare for the final conflict, the 2nd revelation, and what really matters is- do I give a shit about you or not?
