some people, found in certain populations throughout the whole world, but always less than 1%, are naturally immune to HIV. This means, they have a genetic mutation that causes the confirmation of the proteins on the outside of their killer t cells to change, rendering the virus inert. In short, there is nothing for the virus to latch onto.
