It sucks how specific one has to be when selecting healthy foods nowadays. It's easy to choose what tastes good, but what's good for you is another story. I find myself asking the following questions: Is it organic? Where is it from? What's in it? What part of my dietary needs will this food satisfy for today?
My friend was saying that Rainbow is the grocery store of the future, and to be quite honest, I don't know why more people haven't copied their business model! When it comes to food, I know I have to shop at health food stores. Rainbow is the biggest, the cheapest, and the best int he city (even though I do enjoy a few others). I've shopped at Other Avenues, Thom's, the one on Divisidero, the one on Haight, and if I have to Whole Foods. I've never been to Berkeley Bowl, I need to go sometime, especially since I'm from the east bay to begin with.
Maybe I should start my own co-op grocery? Wait, I don't have the patience.
At Rainbow Grocery, our purpose is to provide natural, organic, vegetarian food and environmentally and health conscious products at an affordable price. Rainbow Grocery Cooperative is an independent, collectively run, worker owned and operated cooperative at which decision making and responsibilities are shared through democratic structures and elected committees.
