Her Madgesty

There's only 2 living celebrities for whom I would immediately start
crying if I were to see them irl- MADONNA and OPRAH. Everybody loves
Oprah. Thank you, Oprah for everything you do for us. But today, I'm
only going to speak on Her Madgesty. So thank you, Your Madgesty, for
everything you do for us!

Madonna today is one of the most powerful living humans. Her influence
can be felt on every level, she has said so much throughout her
career, and continues to say so much now as she always has through
every stage in her life.

Madonna has brought the dirty little thoughts everyone has been
thinking (in the back of their minds) into the general consciousness.
Madonna is a world power in and of herself, not too bad for a white
girl from middle America. Maybe we should consider electing Madonna
president of the united states?

I could so a step further and say that Madonna ought to be worshiped
as the goddess she happens to be.

Just to talk about her music- all of the major songs from my whole
life were Madonna songs, she's been making them this whole time! It
must feel good to have given so much to so many people. I wonder if
she ever thinks, "All those love songs were mine! Who would have
thought I'd be the one to do all that shit?"

I often think about how Madonna will be remembered in retrospect. It's
obvious that she has replaced the Virgin Mary. Raised catholic, she
has struggled and fought so hard against such a negative entity.
Constantly reinventing herself, Madonna shows that there's a little
bit of her in everyone.

Why is Madonna so culturally relevant? What has Madonna done that's so
important?

Madonna in one person personifies the Madonna/whore complex that has
plagued women this whole time. If a woman has sex, she's a whore; a
woman's only other option other than being a whore is to be a virginal
saint. No woman falls into one of those 2 categories, and it was
Madonna who has enough courage to be honest and show real female
sexuality; it's strange to think she was the first person to equate
sexual ecstasy with a spiritual high- that was only done a matter of
years ago.

So, in the future, people are going to be hailing Madonna and not the
virgin Mary. Mary=Madonna, isn't her name ironic? Another post-modern
dilemma...
