Repo: The Genetic Opera
I'm so happy to see Repo is making money!
I thought it was amazing! Main themes:
c/p from imnotobsessed.com, pne of my favorite websites!
...although the movie paints a very tangible (albeit, extremely unlikely) version of a dystopian vision of the future, it does deal with problems facing this current generation, especially regarding the current "golden age" of biotechnology as well as people left to deal with inferior genes. I felt the main themes were deep philosophical issues of death/dying vs. immortality, power, money, how far people will go to feed addictions, and the complete corruption of science through capitalism...

Her Madgesty
There's only 2 living celebrities for whom I would immediately start
crying if I were to see them irl- MADONNA and OPRAH. Everybody loves
Oprah. Thank you, Oprah for everything you do for us. But today, I'm
only going to speak on Her Madgesty. So thank you, Your Madgesty, for
everything you do for us!
Madonna today is one of the most powerful living humans. Her influence
can be felt on every level, she has said so much throughout her
career, and continues to say so much now as she always has through
every stage in her life.
Madonna has brought the dirty little thoughts everyone has been
thinking (in the back of their minds) into the general consciousness.
Madonna is a world power in and of herself, not too bad for a white
girl from middle America. Maybe we should consider electing Madonna
president of the united states?
I could so a step further and say that Madonna ought to be worshiped
as the goddess she happens to be.
Just to talk about her music- all of the major songs from my whole
life were Madonna songs, she's been making them this whole time! It
must feel good to have given so much to so many people. I wonder if
she ever thinks, "All those love songs were mine! Who would have
thought I'd be the one to do all that shit?"
I often think about how Madonna will be remembered in retrospect. It's
obvious that she has replaced the Virgin Mary. Raised catholic, she
has struggled and fought so hard against such a negative entity.
Constantly reinventing herself, Madonna shows that there's a little
bit of her in everyone.
Why is Madonna so culturally relevant? What has Madonna done that's so
important?
Madonna in one person personifies the Madonna/whore complex that has
plagued women this whole time. If a woman has sex, she's a whore; a
woman's only other option other than being a whore is to be a virginal
saint. No woman falls into one of those 2 categories, and it was
Madonna who has enough courage to be honest and show real female
sexuality; it's strange to think she was the first person to equate
sexual ecstasy with a spiritual high- that was only done a matter of
years ago.
So, in the future, people are going to be hailing Madonna and not the
virgin Mary. Mary=Madonna, isn't her name ironic? Another post-modern
dilemma...

you're a racist
Gay people can be just as bigoted as the rest of the population
(especially white ones). Through going undercover (I'm Iroquois, but
in the winter months I usually pass for white) I've noticed that white
gay men have all sorts of racially charged terms to describe who and
what they're into. Rice queen and bean queen are 2 examples of what
I'm talking about, they even find themselves in pop culture references
such as Rick & Steve: The Happiest Gay Couple In All The World on Logo
(Mtv's LGBT spin off network).
I noticed that even wikipedia has a whole section about LGBT argot,
and a lot of it doesn't seem that positive.
What's easier than talking about myself? I feel bad saying this, but
I'm not sexually attracted to Asian men. It happens once in a while
but it's far and few between, and it's usually Filipinos who I think
are sexy. I often think that Asian men are pretty, I just don't want
to mess around with them.
My whole society has put me in a compromising situation because I'm
mixed. It doesn't matter who I'm messing around with, it's going to be
"interracial" even though race does not exist from a biological
standpoint. I guess my real intention with this blog is to assert how
ridiculous the idea of racial identities happen to be (to me).
I mean, look how much I have to type when it comes to defining who is
sexy to me. So, I'm usually most attracted to Black and Latino men,
although I am still attracted to white guys. White guys are easy to
deal with, because I've been around them.
I don't know, I don't really have a type. I really like smirks.

Stevie Knicks
Now here you go again
You say you want your freedom
Well who am I to keep you down
Its only right that you should
Play the way you feel it
But listen carefully to the sound
Of your loneliness
Like a heartbeat.. drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering what you had
And what you lost...
And what you had...
And what you lost
Thunder only happens when its raining
Players only love you when they're playing
Say... women... they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean... you'll know
Now here I go again, I see the crystal visions
I keep my visions to myself
It's only me
Who wants to wrap around your dreams and...
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
Dreams of loneliness...
Like a heartbeat... drives you mad...
In the stillness of remembering what you had...
And what you lost...
And what you had...
And what you lost
Thunder only happens when its raining
Players only love you when they're playing
Say... women... they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean... you'll know
I love you Stevie Knicks.

I'm all about September!
September is my little thing! I'm all about her. I have a feeling she's going to be internationally famous, oh wait, September already is. Did you know she was born in September, but her real name is Petra Marklund, and she has no where to go but up. The sky is the limit for September!

Moment of Truth
I can't wait to watch Moment of Truth on FOX this Wednesday. Moment of Truth is truly genius. Obviously, it's another step in the right direction for television programming. I have a feeling it's going to stir up so much controversy. Eventually, I'm sure we'll see way more intense things on reality tv, I can't wait! :D
edit:
I watched the first episode, and it wasn't nearly as good as I thought it would be. I'll give it another chance, maybe it will pick up over the course of the season. All they established in the first episode- men who play sports professionally look at each others penises. I wonder if they touch them...

numbers
Lately 9, 8, and 1 have been my favorite numbers. I still have a thing for 3. And 2! How can I say no 2 you?
The title of my latest sculpture (made out of found objects):
9-1-1-1 done 9/2007
In the past, I've had doubts to the base 10 number system. It's a problem I have, I question anything and everything. Ultimately, I gave up questioning it, because it has been around for so long, in so many places that I have to think it's true. The decimal (base ten or occasionally denary) numeral system has ten as its base. It is the most widely used numeral system, perhaps because humans have four fingers and a thumb on each hand, giving a total of ten digits over both hands. I wonder what my experience would be like with another value?

why do I love this show so much?
I guess I love it because it's semi autobiographical. "You don't know what it's like to be a gay genius."
