Last night I was lucky enough to finally go see Burlesque! Initially, I was concerned because I'd read a few reviews that said Xtina was a bad actress, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well she did!
I did think stylistically the movie was great, and you could tell a lot of work went into all the numbers. The costumes were fun too.
The only thing I could not believe was that there was no Cher/Xtina duet! Maybe they're saving that one for Burlesque 2?

This looks so good! Maybe another large aspect of the social trend of cocooning, gone wrong? I really want to see this movie. I love when people become more and more disconnected from reality.

Netflix on Monday confirmed that it will add "South Park" episodes and content from Nickelodeon to its Watch Instantly library.
I've been using netflix for a year, and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I still haven't gotten into hulu yet... I'm sure it will be a matter of time.

movie reviews
Push- I really liked it. I never saw a movie with Dakhota Fanning before, and she really surprized me. It reminded me a lot of Jumper... I hope they make a sequel to Push because they left it really open at the end.
Milk- This movie was great, but SO depressing. I guess while watching it, I forced myself to forget about what really happens. At the time, I was angry for Sean Penn stealing a role that was never his to begin with, yet since he has used the exposure to only campaign for equality, I respect that.
Wanted- It was ok, I wanted more Angelina, and I wanted them to end up 2gether in the end, not with her having a bullet in the head.
The Hottie and the Nottie- I LOVED it, just wish there was more Paris, and less of the other people.
Totally Fucked Up- I recently got into Greg Araki movies, and had never seen this one... I liked it, and it seemed a little more realistic than other movies I'd seen by him. I'm a big fan of all of his films.

movie review- Gendernauts
Last night, I watched a movie from the late 90s called Gendernauts. The documentary takes place in San Francisco, and as a native of the bay area, as well as a resident of San Francisco since 2002, I am personally interested in the message of the story as well as the people. For me, it's very interesting to see the recent history plays out in film, because I didn't get he chance to live it. When this movie came out, I would have been in 9th grade, so I was still out of the loop at that point.
San Francisco has always been a mecca for queer people, and as it is discussed in the movie, San Francisco is one of only a few handful of cities in the WHOLE WORLD who makes legislation in favor of trans and gender queer people. Although anti-discrimination seems to be a human rights issue, just as we've all seen from the recent removal of trans people from the anti-discrimination act a few months, discrimination is alive and well in our nation's capital. As a statistic, I guess I should repeat that trans people have the highest rates of unemployment of any minority in the entire world.
I find the 90s to be such an optimistic time. Bill Clinton was president, and overall the country was doing a lot better in every measurable respect of success. It seems like the 90s was really the conception of the contemporary. I was amazed about how the movie initially dealt with the singularity and uploading consciousness. Making humans analogous to cyborgs was also smart and relevant, because as much as we'd like to think we're all unique and self-created, we really are just an amalgamation of everything present in our culture, our identities still run on scripts and schemas. It seems like gender queer people understand something that everyone else who blends in never could; or perhaps gender queer simply can't understand anything with respect to culturally constructed gender roles and instead are completely self created...
What I find the most interesting about this movie, are the subjects who instead of transitioning from 1 gender to another, instead choose to occupy a yet unnamed and still "underground" middle ground, choosing to neither be masculine or feminine. It's strange to think how much of a "big deal" these kinds of people pose to society even now. Even I find myself staring when someone doesn't fit into the preconceived boxes that I've been socialized to expect. Even now, in the 2000s, men are left with the emotionless butch archetype, and women can choose either to be disney princess femme or be met with much resistance through life.

Zombie Strippers
I finally saw Jenna's new movie on Sunday night! I loved it, but basically anything she does is really great. I must say, her body looks FLAWLESS, and her dance movies could put just about anyone to shame, if there's one living woman who really knows how to work it, it would be her. The movie is endlessly entertaining, and the special effects are really good. Jenna never fails to entertain, and I honestly love it the most when she does comedy, and this movie has so many funny moments. Her autobiography changed my life for the better, I guess you could say it's been my bible, and I always think WWJJD: What Would Jenna Jameson Do? It's because of her, I constantly think "That's not a very Darrin Goodness think to do." It's one of my dreams to meet her (I'd probably get emotional) and aside from her, there's hardly anyone I'd want to meet aside from Madonna or Paris. I want to make an autobiographical movie about my life in which she plays an angel, a devil, and my barbie doll...
She was right about the realistic gore! This movie had some of the most realistic gore I've ever seen on film!

I thought it was amazing! Main themes:

...although the movie paints a very tangible (albeit, extremely unlikely) version of a dystopian vision of the future, it does deal with problems facing this current generation, especially regarding the current "golden age" of biotechnology as well as people left to deal with inferior genes. I felt the main themes were deep philosophical issues of death/dying vs. immortality, power, money, how far people will go to feed addictions, and the complete corruption of science through capitalism...

Repo The Genetic Opera comes out on friday! I can't wait to see it!
-> I'm convince this might be Paris's big chance to have a critically acclaimed acting role! I love how post modern this movie is going to be: a rock opera based on a post apocalyptic society with a biotech company ruling the world, and all the people addicted to a drugs made from dead bodies. At any moment, your organs can be repossessed for failure to pay for services rendered. It kind of seems like that's how the world is going to be regardless... most of the themes seem kind of like an underhanded dystopian capitalist spin on a post singularity society.
The website is really cool! There's lots of great videos on it.
Not only is Paris killing it with her BFF show on Mtv, but she still has time to do all these other things. She's truly inspirational to me.
Everyone should go out and see this movie on friday! Repo the Genetic Opera is the only movie I'm looking forward to for the foreseeable future.
If you're in San Francisco, it's playing at this theater. I think it might be the only place in the city playing it!

there's nothing to watch on TvTVtV!
today I was pleasantly surprised to find out that today is the premier of a new VH1 reality TV series: Real Chance at Love, starring Real and Chance from I Love New York. Can't wait! Also, tonight is the premier of another VH1 reality TV show, Scream Queens, which I think is going to be a competition to become a new horror move star (f) for whom the prize will be a role in the new upcoming horror movie Saw 6. To be quite honesty, I only saw the first one, and although I don't remember what it was about, but I remember it was scary.

I never really watched the show that much especially during its original run, but I did appreciate the few episodes I'd seen before seeing the movie. The movie was great! It was so cute. I can't wait for the next one.

movie review- Smiley Face
I had been wanting to see Smiley Face ever since I saw the trailer a really long time ago on youtube. I just want to say that I'm a huge Anna Faris fan. For the first few years I saw her around I didn't pay too much attention, but it seems like her star is burning brighter than ever! Smiley Face was hilarious for so many different reasons, and I'm really surprised this movie didn't have a bigger opening, it had a lot of mass appeal.
movie review- Kids (1995)
I just watched Kids for the first time last night. I was blown away by how real it was. in the middle of the movie I realized that I was watching real life, unfolding in front of my eyes. I'm surprised that movie didn't win an academy award. It's treatment of sex and drugs among urban youth is a startling contrast to the type of young adulthood usually depicted in books, TV, movies, etc. It's sad that real portrayals of life are often mistaken for someone's child porn fantasies. I'm sure whoever was responsible for it encountered problems for the degree of realness they were willing to depict in film.

it's funny
Hardly anyone gets my dark sense of humor. I'm always trying to make people laugh! I don't know why, but sometimes I think I should be a stand up comedian. I've always thought that all humor is born out of tragedy. Maybe that's why I have a dark sense of humor. I'm not cynical, pessimistic, or a downer. I'm usually "up." For some reason, I have a passion for dark comedies, and I often find myself laughing when nobody else is. Sometimes, I think that life is nothing more than a dark comedy- like Happiness. I've still never seen Kids! I really want to see it.

I Know Who Killed Me
I just watched it, and I loved it! I wish I saw it a long time ago. I loved how she wore blue and red. A few people told me it was sort of like Showgirls, and I guess I noticed that element in there, but overall it reminded me of something else. I thought Lindsay looked amazing, who says she can't carry a leading role by herself?
What I appreciate most was how she was always telling her stories. She even got lost in one? Wait, she has a secret twin? I have to say however, that robotic arm and leg were just too much. They were ridiculous! I like Lindsay Lohan with red hair. I did wonder if her face was cged as it looked vastly different from the rest of her body. Also, I wondered if her body was digitally retouched, because it looked vastly different through the movie.
