This is the true story of six homeless people picked to live on the streets, work together and have their lives taped. This is Homeless Real World.
p.s. I thought I was the first person to come up with this idea, but it's already been done a while ago! I love to watch reality tv evolve, and in a sense, escalate. It's only a matter of time before more and more extreme things become televised, and we're watching our neighbors get killed, tortured, or raped on tv every night.
Last night I started watching Solitary 1.0 on hulu. I had never seen the first one, but seen most if not all of the second season, and I recently watched the 3rd season in its entirety. I love it, and I find it to be one of the most intelligent and interesting reality tv competitions I've ever watched.

syfy here on earth and not in space
Has anyone noticed that the line between magic and technology is starting to blur? At the singularity summit, the speakers explained that magic and technology are becoming the same thing, and the the contemporary breakthroughs will most likely be visible here on earth before humans begin to venture into outer space.
I have noticed this trend in popular culture, with entertainment focusing a lot more on fantasies instead of science fiction being relegated to space, and things cosmic.
Dollhouse is a hot new show to which I'm already rather attached. Taking place post-singularity, most of the technology explored in the show deals with digital consciousness. Techno enthusiasts are able to upload and download human memories, thoughts, and emotions into computers with a subsequent cut and paste, only to make new personalities and hence consciousnesses each time. These newly made synthetic consciousnesses are imprinted into "dolls" humans who have had their entire brain "wiped clean" where they hover in a child like, half conscious half unconscious state of suspended animation until their services are required.
It's very interesting to see the media picking up on such fantastical yet real themes in entertainment. Just in going to the movies lately, and seeing the direction that science fiction is going, the biggest obvious difference is that these movies and tv shows are taking place on earth instead of outer space. Perhaps it's because so much about space is still unknown, that it became such a dominant theme since Star Trek's inception in the 60s. Yet, interestingly enough, now that so much is known, and what's not possible is all becoming possible in front of everyone's minds, science fiction on earth is not only science fact, but now it's just... drama.

tv on the internet
I've noticed that tv and the internet are becoming the same thing. I guess the first time I noticed would have been when cable networks began to air tv shows about hot content that day on the internet. Soon after, I began to notice entire websites through which one could watch tv shows! Genius. And may I ask, why didn't the internet have these resources a long time ago?
A sobering reality for me was the realization that the internet is now more captivating than tv, which I thought would never happen. For many years, I thought the internet was only good for looking at porn, and never thought that I could use the intetnet to produce my own entertainment which could reach a global audience at any time and not just the limited audience tv exposure allows.
I didn't get lucky with parents, in fact mine were as about as shitty as parents get, so to make a long story short I was raised by the tv. I often wonder if my brain is now fucked up from all the endless hours I spent in front of a tv screen. Even now, I'm addicted to tv; I'm self aware enough to know I'm addicted, and I've come to the conclusion that it could be so much worse. I could be addicted to crack, heroin, starving myself, or cutting, but instead I'm addicted to something banal and harmelss, and the most important thing is it doesn't make me look worse.
TV has had a huge impact on my life. It has affected my life's decisions, values, and interests. TV has helped me decide what I like and want and don't like and don't want, and inspired me in endless ways. It was because of TV that I discovered life long influences such as Oprah or Paris Hilton. It's the one friend who is always there, and no matter how low I feel, or how convinced I am that I need to kill myself this second, it always distracts me enough from reality so I can go on. Mostly, what keeps me going on is the knowledge that there's still new episodes to look forward to, and if I didn't have something so uplifting to look forward to, who knows what would happen? Obviously, I wish life could be like TV. I want to live in a world where everyone lives in a nice clean house, everyone is attractive and lit to show off their best features, and real life problems are never the main theme. But it never will be like that.
I'm sure we've all read the scientific studies that say tv affects your brain in the same way a drug does, activating reward pathways, etc. I basically have it on all the time, because like a comforting presence, it calms me down and makes me think that nothing bad is going to happen. How could something go wrong, the tv is on? Throughout my whole life, TV is the one friend who never lets me down, but just like friends in real life, often has nothing new to say, just replaying the same shit over and over. Seriously, look through what's coming up, all the shit is years old! Sometimes, when I'm on the internet I even feel like I'm cheating on tv.
I recently went to see Wall-E, the newest pixar movie, and was surprized to find that tv and the intetnet had been combined all on one screen, in the fictional future scenario. I guess I thought it was sage advice. How great would it be to watch any tv show online whenever you want, or to be able to scroll the internet and get valuable information while still watching tv?

Les Mondes Engloutis
I used to watch this a lot as a child! My take- a post singularity society / post apocalyptic and p.s. I love French kids shows!
Denver the last Dinosaur - I used to love this show! It seems like most everyone saw it...
I always wanted to be Gambit, bc he was sexy. Honestly, I was always most inspired by Apocalypse because he had the most superior powers- immortality, time travel, immeasurable I.Q. w/ future alien biotechnology, flight, super strength, impervious to harm...

--- random thoughts
I love it when people look like they're on drugs! I realized a long time ago that there are 2 kinds of people in this world, those who do drugs and start to look gross hell of quickly, then those who can do drugs and still look ok; it's the latter who seem to get through life with a lot less shit. Some people just are lucky I guess.
The thing about people who "look like they're on drugs," is that they make you look bad, just by association. It's unfortunate that aesthetics really do matter so much in life, but it's scientifically proven. It's evolutionarily advantageous. It raises someone's chance to we more wealthy, and to have an easier life.
In our deepest bioogical insticts, it's out deep subconcious signaling to our concious, "this one is to be avoided, this organism is not healthy!" I feel bad for those who suffer this reality- looking at people on the bus, I'm reminded, and overall, a little disgusted by the fact of how "real" real people look.
But I don't have problems like that, and I am grateful. Looking in the mirror last night, I all of a sudden re-realized, omg, I look amazing! I look so good! It's a really good feeling. I'm holding up really great, probably because of the fact that I don't do drugs, drink alcohol, or smoke. I'm sure to get enough sleep every night. Stay active, works out.
___
And in tv news, Mtv and Vh1 are still showing reality tv shows exclusively. Overall, most of tv is reality tv, and thank god! Reality tv is one of the only things to look forward to at this point. It's so post modern, and it really is real life. Everything is a spin off of a spin off of a spin off etc etc. It's how life is, how everything gets recycled, even galaxies spin down a drain like a toilet bowl. In some ways, people are more real, because they are more likely to be less inhibited, in face of the camera. It can bring a huge, fast, and dramatic rush of self esteem. Exposure and fame are the most potent drugs known to man.
Also, there's nothing to watch on tv at all! It sucks. Basically, the only thing to watch right now is the upcoming Real Chance of Love, Scream Queens, and Rock Of Love Charm School. I hope New York comes back on tv soon. I missed Kath and Kim this week, I wish I didn't. I hate network tv, and I never watch because they don't give you a chance to catch something you missed. Kath and Kim is the only scripted show I've watched in a long time. I hear Any Sedaris is coming back to tv, so I'll be watching her the first chance I get, best believe. I still watch Dee Dee TV, it's always so fun! I've made so many people watch it. and they all love it. I have been venturing over to Mtv for Paris Hilton: My New BFF. The new Celebrity Rehab looks watchable. I'm glad Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane is back! I need to watch it more.
Tv Shows that ended: Project Runway, I love Money, I Love New York, The Cho Show, The Rachel Zoe Project

CHON
Life is made out of CHON: Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Nitrogen (+ a few trace elements).
How Life Began: The origins of life on earth and the evolution of single celled organisms into the vast multitude of living things on the planet are explored. Included: How life is defined; the catalyst for life; and synthetic life- recreating life in a laboratory.
Sometimes the history channel does play relevant programs! I'm still waiting for tv to meld with the internet, and become the same thing.

Moment of Truth
I can't wait to watch Moment of Truth on FOX this Wednesday. Moment of Truth is truly genius. Obviously, it's another step in the right direction for television programming. I have a feeling it's going to stir up so much controversy. Eventually, I'm sure we'll see way more intense things on reality tv, I can't wait! :D
edit:
I watched the first episode, and it wasn't nearly as good as I thought it would be. I'll give it another chance, maybe it will pick up over the course of the season. All they established in the first episode- men who play sports professionally look at each others penises. I wonder if they touch them...
